Friday Evening 10 mile Time Trial series 2010

E14a course blocked. Friday evening 10 series moved to new course.

Traffic lights have been installed on the E14a course used for our evening 10 series. The series has therefore been moved to the E14/17k course based on Navestockside.

Course details are as follows.

START (GR 568969) in Mores Lane, Bentley, approx 10 yards from it's junction with the A128. Turn left to join A128 and continue to Marden Ash where left on A113. Continue on A113 to turn left into Shonks Mill Road continue to Black Barn at Navestock Side where left into Wheelers Lane and bear left to FINISH (GR 563973) just short of "Green Man" PH Navestock Side. NOTE: This course is 10.4 miles.

To ensure the events run smoothly, the following conditions will apply.

Riders must familiarise themselves with the course before signing-on. This includes the location of the start and finish and the route between the sign-on area and the start. Google Maps can be used in conjunction with the course details above.
Sign-on will be at he end of the Green at Navestockside. Cars should be parked in that area and not at the start of the course.
Riders must cycle to the start. These are no car parking places in that area.
It might be necessary for a limit to be put on the number of participants. In that event priority will be given to Becontree Wheelers and ELV members. So get there early to ensure a ride, and to give yourself time to ride to the start line.
The event on 2 July will be a normal time trial. The novelty "Prologue" is cancelled.

Course - E14A based on Navestock Heath, Essex

Club events held in partnership with East London Velo. Open for "Private" time trials subject to availability. Just turn up and ride. However, you must be a member of a club affiliated to Cycling Time Trials. If not, you will need to ask your club to arrange affiliation or alternatively join a club already affiliated. Becontree Wheelers and East London Velo both welcome new members.

Entry fee £1.50 per ride for under 18s and £3 for all others. Refreshments normally included.

For newcomers and others who do not wish to ride the full 10 miles, we offer a 1 lap competition of approximately 5 miles. Just tell the timekeeper you are interested in this when you sign on. You will normally ride after the main field of 10 milers.

Series to take place every Friday evening from early April to early September.

Special events will be included as follows.

"Fixed" Competition. To be eligible for the competition on 28 May, riders will be required to use a single fixed gear. Only club members using "fixed" gear machines will be edible for the points and series competitions.
"Athletes" 10. The event to be held on 18 June. To be eligible for this event riders must use standard bicycles and equipment as follows-

no tri-bars
all wheels to have a minimum of 24 spokes
no aero helmets or head fairings
no overshoes.

a penalty of 1 minute per item to be imposed.

Becontree members will be competing for the Les Stevens/Tony Dewerson memorial Trophy.

"Prologue". This will be held on 2 July to celebrate the 2010 Tour de France. All riders will complete 1 lap of the Navestock course. It will be open to all-comers subject to availability and CTT affiliation.
- ~~Results will be based on Veterans, Seniors, Juniors, Juveniles and Ladies.~~
- ~~A small prize will be given to the overall winner and to the winner of each category subject to at least 3 riders competing in that category.~~
- ~~Points will be available as usual for the Becontree Points competition (The Steve Jackson Competition) but times will not count for the Evening 10 series.~~

Club Runs

Club members meet by the bus stop outside Corbetts Tey cemetery each Sunday morning for a gentle social ride. All members are welcome to participate but they leave at 8:30 am sharp so don't be late. The length of the ride and the route are generally agreed at the time.
